I. Evangelical Feminism and Biblical Truth
On the weekends, I will be posting sections from Evangelical Feminism and Biblical Truth by Wayne Grudem.
Along with posting excerpts from this book, which is available on-line on the above link, I will write a bit of my thoughts at the end of the excerpt and would encourage that you consider writing yours in the comments. I also highly recommend that you purchase this book here.
This book sifts through 118 current disputes to the Bible's teaching on the God-ordained roles of men and women. This is an issue where "the stakes are too high to remain uninformed and indifferent." It is time to care.
This was a prayerfully made decision and I am excited about going through this book... hopefully with some input from readers on both sides of the fence... the fence is too unstable to sit on. This is not an "agree to disagree" issue or an "it doesn't matter where I am on this issue as long as I love everybody".
This is an issue that is divisive, so I implore that you maintain the 5 rules of engagement on the left sidebar. Do not hesitate to give your opinion, unless you violate those rules. Remember especially that though unified positionally in Christ, this does not mean we will be unified in regards to the authoritative rule of sound Doctrine... this is where "with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love" must come into action. Which sometimes must entail prayerfully discerned defensive exhortation.
This is about a 900 page book. I will not post everything from it, but I will post relevant sections within each chapter at a reasonable length for however long it takes. This will be like a blogger book study/ "discussion".
Looking forward to your participation and input. Your input is valuable to this discussion.
Pray, Preview, Post.
To God be ALL the glory,
Lisa

I've prayerfully considered this, and since it also seems that women in ministry is your main topic at the moment, I want to share a short story with you- and then ask your personal theological understanding of a scripture if that's ok?
A friend of mine found out that a Christian church in her area went round door to door before Easter (to share the Easter message and get people to their services). So far so good :)
One person told them that she would be going to my friend's church for Easter - where my friend is the pastor.
Their response was "If you go to that church you won't go to heaven." (because my friend is female)
My question to you is simply do you agree with the statement they made, and if so how do you then explain the scripture in Jn 6:37 which says "Whoever comes to me will I in no way cast out."

This is an excellent question.
Interesting that you should ask this, Lorna. The excerpt I planned on posting Friday morning out of Grudem's book will address this.
