Phriday Philippians: To all the saints...
Yep... at this rate it will take me 10+ years to blog through Philippians. But one of the things that my pastor pointed out last night in our home during home Bible fellowship is meditation. Not the mystical kind. But the Biblical, ponder, think upon, chew on / regurgitate / chew on..., dwell upon meditation of God's Word. In which we take a passage in context and think upon it through the day so much that, as my husband said, "we pray it back to God". So when I started blogging on Philippians, it was with that idea. I first meditated on "grace to you" and then "peace" and now "to all the saints who are in Christ Jesus... "
Romans 1:7 and Romans 8:28 define a "saint" as those who are beloved of God and those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
How can a person who was once dead in his trespasses be made alive in Christ? How can someone who was once an enemy of a holy God because of sin, now be beloved of God?
The recipients of this book are saints. They are specifically called out, chosen by God from the beginning for salvation, adopted into the kingdom of heaven... the family of God. NOT because of anything they had done... but according to His abounding grace and mercy.
You had no ability to choose God. None. This is God's work alone. It is through Him that you can be called a saint. You have nothing to boast about except the Lord... so boast boldly in Him. For He has done a mighty work of grace to call you out of darkness and into HIS marvelous light. Think upon this, meditate on it and be blessed.
