Thursday Theology: What to Avoid and Why (Loss of salvation)
I have written and re-written this post, but have come to a definite conclusion.
Someone has written what I want to say here far better (that is not unusual :-)... so go read THIS.
Here are a few highlights from the article I linked to above:
1. Classic Arminianism"If faith is simply a human action of a free will, then it can be lost. But if saving faith is God's gift, then it cannot be lost. Can professing Christians fall away? Yes, and they will perish. Can true Christians fall away? No, for they are kept by the invincible power of God in Christ. The Bible teaches us that professing Christians who leave the faith were never truly believers (1 John 2:19; and notice the qualification even in Hebrews 10:39)."• One must persevere in faith to be saved.
• True believers can lose their faith.
• Those dying without faith in Christ are condemned.
“The believer who loses his faith is damned.”
• One need not persevere in faith to be saved.
• True believers can lose their faith.
• Those who lose their faith are saved, since they once believed.
“The believer who loses his faith is saved.”
• One must persevere in faith to be saved.
• True believers cannot lose their faith, since it’s God’s gift.
• Those dying without faith in Christ are condemned.• Those who “lose” their faith never had it to begin with.
• God will preserve true believers and they will be saved.
“The ‘believer’ who loses his faith never really had it—or at least it wasn’t in Jesus.”

Lisa, Lisa,
When are we gonna get you to write about funner topics ;)
I'm kidding... sort of. The sad thing is that this stuff does get hashed and re-hashed so often it seems. I like reading your site, though. But for me, it just got way too heavy to keep doing my own posts. Too often it seems it goes in one eyeball and out the other.

That is why I resorted to a schedule. It gives me 3 days where people can perhaps expect something light and funny or what is on my heart; and 3 days where I can write about the more specific deeper issues that I enjoy reviewing and explaining why I believe what I believe (sometimes through providing links).
So if you want something lighter, you can usually expect it on the weekend through Tuesday.
Wednesday through Friday... not so much. :-)
I work better on a schedule. I am organized but flexible... I like my ducks in a row, but with 6 children, my ducks need to be made out of rubber (flexible)... and I am fine with that, too. That is where learning to laugh at myself has come into play... and I laugh ALOT.
That is why I appreciate people like you and Chelle. You guys make me laugh when I don't think I feel like it... ha. That's a gift and you guys are a blessing!!!
