Wednesday Womanhood: I'm a Chauvinist?
As a result of my last post on Biblical womanhood, a woman accused me of being a chauvenist. She wrote, "God is not a chauvenist, you should not be either."
Why does she think I am a chauvenist? Because I stand, by the grace of God, for the balanced view of Biblical complimentarianism that teaches that men and women are "equal, yet different".
I have also been lumped into a group of bloggers who are labeled victorian era moralist. Why? Because I do not think it is appropriate for pastors to curse and/ or cuss in the pulpit and use debasing illustrations to be "culturally acceptable"... basing what they say on the mood or background of the listeners, instead of standing firm in God's relevant and sufficient Word of truth. I do not even think it is appropriate for anyone proclaiming to be a Christian to do those things.
Do you think this is fun? I'm human, I have a fleshly desire to be liked by everyone. But apparently and in light of scripture, that just isn't going to happen. I guess if I did not mind being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine... or hey, maybe I can just never say anything and smile at everybody.... even though my heart aches for God's Truth... especially in regards to Biblical Womanhood.
I am fairly new at defending what I believe and why on the blogosphere. I have done it face to face with people. But on the blogosphere it is different. You cannot see my eyes, my tears... even though I try to write from my heart. It is kinda like this video clip:
What I have found with those who resort to name calling, is a lack of Biblical defense. And whenever they attempt to defend themselves Biblically, they twist Scriptures to fit their mold. Whenever I post on the gender issue, I progessively do my best, by the grace of God, to provide ample links to scripture in context and excellent articles that Biblically expound on scripture. I'm not making this stuff up and I am not a chauvenist or a victorian era moralist. As I have written before, Jesus was not an egalitarian and I want to be like Jesus. According to the Word of God, men and women ARE equal yet different. The Lord Himself has ordained this to be so and it boils down to submission. Who is our greatest, most perfect example? Jesus. He was WILLINGLY submissive to the headship of God even to the point of death.
I will post on what I was going to post on today, next week. I just had a few things to clear up before I press on.
Make sure you do not miss out on reading THIS which leads to THIS.
And do not miss out on my pet peeve.
For those who noticed how badly I mutilated the spelling of chauvenist... I mean chauvinist, go to THIS LINK.

Amen Lisa!
I am getting put through the ringer right now on my own blog by a woman who thinks my view of the Bible and God is narrow-minded. I have been called all kinds of names and everything I say is twisted.
I think that is just inevitable when you are strong in your adherence to the Word. 1 Cor 1:18 has helped me:
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

Hey Carrie,
I am truly sorry to hear that.
One of the things I have learned the hard way is picking my battles carefully. I am not keen on argueing with anybody or looking to be divisive just to get my blog stats up. I could care less about that. I have other priorities besides blogging... like a husband and homeschooling 6 children and serving my local church family, etc.
I find it sadly interesting that most who want to engage me in an arguement do so via e-mail or leave a comment without a URL. And then try to carry on an arguement that they claim to be using good hermeneutics and original language studies, etc. when in fact their arguement has very little sound Biblical foundation.
I am not out to pick a fight and I prefer that those who want to engage in a battle do their own homework because I do not have time to do it for them. But if there are genuine questions about what I am writing, or mistakes in my writing, I have no problem having that addressed. I do not have all the answers and I am fully aware of that. That is why I have people that are solid in their doctrine holding me accountable.
What amazes me the most is how quickly the name calling and accusations begin.
Yes, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing... but in the process of proclaiming the message of the cross, I earnestly pray that I do not act like a fool at the expense of the Gospel and engage in foolish disputes that do not bring Him glory.
For those earnestly contending for the faith... we must pray for one another, weep with one another, hold each other accountable and know that our toil is not in vain.
To God be all the glory,
Lisa

I can't even spell chauvinist right half the time...
For those who may be from the Victorian era... "peeps" means "people".
And thank you, Mike, for making me laugh. Needed it. Tell Chelle hello again.

Lisa,
I've not stopped by in a while but I'm glad I did. I think that your ministry through this site in inspiring to other Christian women who also love the truth of God's word.
Keep the faith and don't give up! God will keep you and enable you to do it.
BTW, I followed some links from one of your posts recently to the demonic youth camp in Chicago. From there I followed other links and found the site promoting egalitarianism. I was shocked at some of the names they listed as endorsements.
I've learned some things from this site. Thanks.

And teach the truth Lisa. Don't ever yield and don't ever lie and don't ever apologize.
Fight the good fight AND finish the race. Don't let the playa haters get you down.

okay. You've officialy got like a million hyperlinks in that post too. How do you do that? laughing and laughing, and admiring the sheer amount of work it takes to hyperlink every third vowel. You're awesome.

Hey Armchair,
Movable type makes it easy for me to link to my resources. I have found it necessary to do this to clarify my position Scripturally and also to be held accountable in light of God's Word and "historic mainstream" authors that adhere to sound doctrine. I am also trying to make it easier for people to do their homework before argueing with me. :-/
"...my advice to young Calvinists is to learn your theology from the historic mainstream Calvinist authors, not from blogs and discussion forums on the Internet..." - Phil Johnson
Plus it is fun. How's Masters Seminary???
Carla and Mr. Christopher,
Thank you for your words of encouragement. You guys are so thoughtful to take time out of your busy schedules to do so. I also appreciate the boatload of unexpected encouraging e-mails. As I responded to one of the e-mails in particular, I wrote that I cannot go around expecting to be encouraged by people as my only motive to press on. I look at this as more like my Heavenly Father providing a drink of refreshing water in a dry and vast desert by using people like you guys as a means to do so. Yep, your'e being used... :-)
Thank you again and to God be ALL the glory.

Well, if you're a chauvenist, then so am I.
Keep on keepin on, sister.

Thank you, Kim...
I have been called a whole lot of other things that involve cuss words... but I will not go there. What I am thankful for are likeminded women like you and Carla, Carrie and actually a whole host of others who have left comments recently, or in the past, or have e-mailed me that really love being women that embrace the freedom of true Biblical womanhood. To God be ALL the glory for that.
Lisa
