My Husband, My brother in Christ
Why I Blog
I especially enjoy writing about Biblical Womanhood as well as the application of Biblical theology from the perspective of a woman longing to communicate my love for who God is as revealed in His Word of knowable and applicable truth and NOT who I imagine He is from some sentimental, me-centered perspective that is based on relative, roller-coaster ride of self-sustained religion 'truth'. In other words, I like to encourage others to press on in His truth and His love for His glory.
But then, everything I have written has likely been said a whole lot better by someone else. I definitely have no insight that is deeper than what God has already revealed. Therefore, if you find anything of value here than give God the glory!
"Lisa at Deo Volente is another blogger that I'd love to meet with and share some coffee. She's been through some rough circumstances in her life, and she's come through them clearly showing the grace of God, and honouring Him through those circumstances. Her various posts are sometimes funny, often really make you think, and always theologically sound."-Jen at JoythruChrist
Lisa is passionate about her reformed faith and her posts reflect how her faith is practically applied to situations in her life. Very difficult ones, from time to time...Ukrainiac
"Lisa's site has become one of my new favorites to read and to participate. I think she brings a nice touch to the application of theology to everday life as a woman and as a mother. It's sort of like Secret— strong enough for a man, but made for a woman." -Young Wilderness Voice
"Praise the Lord! I have finally found the sold-out, brainy Christian women bloggers, and from what I can tell so far, most of them are Reformed to boot! I knew they had to be out there somewhere. It was just a matter of time. I was directed to Lisa’s blog this morning ...which led to Carla’s blog ... and these are leading me to many others." -Katy at Logoscentric
"4Given's blog. The reformed mother of 6. She rips." by The Armchair Theologian
"I find your blog very encouraging, and uplifting. You are an inspiration to me, and the Lord is using you to encourage me." by Lynn

I picked my boys up at our church after a week long youth group camp. Their 4 younger siblings and I made them a welcome home poster that stretched from pillar to pillar in our home. The twins asked them to never leave again as they cried and held their brothers. My youngest daughter was mad at them for being gone so long (she's 3) so she kind of griped them out. And my 5 year old daughter that had a meltdown 3 days before they were supposed to come home also hugged them for a long time... as did I. Jon made them a wonderful steak dinner and we also made them some brownies. What are we going to do when they go to college? We are a close knit family as I have said before and I praise God for the opportunity to raise these children with a Godly husband. Time flies.

Awesome
You must be referring to God... Yes, Amen. God is awesome!

They truly grow up very quickly....and then the grandkids come. :)
Hey Candy... you made comment number 1,000 on this blog that I began March 2006. Go to Carla Rolfe's to redeem a $10 gift certificate from her Reflections items. (must use it within 30 days)
And yes, it does go by quickly doesn't it...
I have been thinking lately about what a sweet time of our lives this is right now. I love having all of my family at home, but since so many of them are teenagers and one is engaged, that will start changing soon.
We have an "in and out" magnetic board and I get such a warm fuzzy feeling when all of the magnets are in the "in" column. ;-) This does not happen real often, since five of them have part time jobs, but I sure enjoy the times when they are all under one roof.
When the time comes for your children to leave home, the Lord will prepare your heart and it will still be the best time of your life. A wise woman explained it to me this way. When your children are 12 years old, you don't want to wrap them in a blanket and hold them the way you did when they were babies. When they are 18, the things you did with them when they were 12 also won't appeal to either of you anymore. Enjoy the moment and don't impose today's circumstances on tomorrow.
Thank you, klilly. Wonderful words of wisdom. I sincerely appreciate you sharing them.
To God be ALL the glory... Amen.
I wandered over here from the Camp On This blog. All I have to say is that your house is WAY too clean!! : )
I cleaned it before my boys came home... perhaps I ought to post a "this is reality" pic of what it looks like in day to day life. Or maybe you can just picture 6 kids living in it (with 4 of the 6 children being under 6 years old)... get the picture?
"I will feed My flock and I will lead them to rest," declares the Lord GOD. "I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick..."
Ezekiel 34:15-16
"I will lift mine eyes unto the hills; from whence cometh my help? My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth..." Psalm 121
Below is a video testimony about how God saved our marriage after an 18 month separation, 5 years into our marriage. We had 2 children when we separated. We now have 6 children and have been married for... well, OH so much longer!!!... by the grace of our faithful Heavenly Father.
