Phriday Philippians: Prayer & Participation
"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now."--Philippians 1:3-5
Did you know genuinely praying for others is evidence of true salvation? Our faith in God should show itself in our love for others. And what better way to manifest that love, than to pray for one another. Of course, may we not think that when we see someone starving, we should just kneel down and pray and move on thinking that is enough.
Have you ever told someone that you would pray for them, and then forgot to do it? Why not pray with them right there. Remember that story I wrote awhile back about the 3 elderly ladies? I was sitting in the waiting room for an appointment talking on the phone to a hurting friend. We prayed together on the phone and when I lifted my head, those elderly ladies were right there asking me the first name of the young lady I was praying for... telling me that they were praying with me.
Besides your spouse and your family, who should you be fervently praying for? I can think of a whole host of people, but I want you to consider praying for your pastor and his family fervently. Full-time ministry is not easy. So pray... and make sure you are not one of the people in the church that causes much grief. Do your part, by the grace of God alone, in seeking to serve and not to be served. And do all these things for God's glory and not to be seen by men. Do this so that your pastor can say, "I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel..."
