Weekend Whatever: Just Stuff I'm Learning
There are some very thought-provoking comments that are continuing on a post I made on Monday called Without the Bible (with comments by 2 Scotts and a Turk... that's my dad's humour coming out. It's his fault.) which actually inspired me to study Bibliology (which was my Thursday post), which also led me to write Friday's post on defending the Gospel.
Thanks to Challies, I have a new feature on my right sidebar that shows the 8 latest comments made on the specific post it was made in. Over 2 weeks ago, Challies left a comment on my blog HERE. Please continue to pray for him and his family. I am looking forward to him completing a much-needed book on discernment. Hopefully he will include a chapter in that book in regards to the blogosphere. Challies wrote a very interesting post about books today essentially about how a persons personal collection reveals much about who they are. I encourage you to go read it.
1. Carla has an interesting post called What must I know about Jesus to enter Heaven?
2. Kim has a funny logic quiz and a great post called Perfect Timing.
3. Girl Talk has a must-read post called Unspeakable Peace.
4. Strange Baptist Fire has an interesting 2004 Q&A post about John MacArthur.
5. And Phil Johnson continues with part 3 of his Lordship Salvation testimony that has me saying... HURRY UP with the next part. I'm not good at waiting.
6. Campi has a post about the Top 50 Books That Have Shaped Evangelicals ...as compiled by Christianity Today {{{*shudder*}}}. Campi writes, Let me know what your contributions would have been and if there are any titles that you think should clearly not have been included as well.
7. Oh... and one more. HERE is an article that is also a re-print must-read even though it is long. It starts out with, Nothing in her evangelical upbringing prepared Laura Watkins for John Piper. "I was used to a very conversational preaching style," said Watkins, 21. "And having someone wave his arms and talk really loudly made me a little scared." Watkins shouldn't be embarrassed. Piper does scare some people. It's probably his unrelenting intensity, demanding discipline, and singular passion—for the glory of God.
Hope you all have a blessed weekend.
His servant for HIS glory,
Lisa
By the way, here are my results of the logic quiz I found at Kim's blog. This quiz must be faulty. Logic hurts my brain. (These are my quiz results after only one try. Some people are taking this quiz more than once... which I can't imagine subjecting my brain to this torture more than I would have to.)
