Knee Deep in Alligators
Yep... that would be me AND my husband. Lots going on simultaneously. Kinda that laugh lest I cry season. So, in celebration of this busy time I am going to worship my Lord and rest in HIS faithfulness, God-willing, in the midst of it all because I can't do nothin' about it!!!
I love schedules. LOVE crossing out things. To keep myself from going INSANE, for the fun of it and since there are inevitably going to be unexpected adventures and opportunities to trust my Lord through this time of home building/ remodeling projects... in the midst of already one of the busiest seasons of the year for our family... I am going to add those unexpected things to my already full list so I CAN CROSS THEM OUT.
Yesterday one of the contractors tore down our backyard retaining wall that had to come down to move forward with one of the many projects; the dirt guy started digging footers and accidently hit the sewage line... both people tore through our french drains ... and let's see, it rained ALL NIGHT last night, it's still raining... and just now that rain has turned into little tiny ice cubes. We now have our own unexpected pond. Too bad there' s no fish in it. (But hey, if it ices over than maybe we can have some ice-skating in our "new backyard")
I was asked if I was ready for all of this.
"I don't know." I responded. "But, God-willing, the Lord will give me the strength to just go with the flow."
(apparently I might literally be going with the flow... (nervous grin)
By the grace of God, I actually completed the day of homeschooling my 3 preschoolers, one kindergartener, and a 7th and 8th grader amongst the countless phone calls, contractors and LOTS of people going in and out of my home with a rather unexpected visit from a reporter wanting to do a story on our wretched (but hopefully resolved, after almost a year of harrassment) experience with our local trash service. I let her in without thinking I think to talk with her and in the midst of her visit, the phone calls and hustle and bustle of the contractors including cabinet makers, the heat and air guy, the plumber, the digger, the head builder and 2 other builders, and the family that came to tear down the retaining wall, continued as did the homeschooling with math questions from my 7th grader, questions about silent e from my kindergartener, etc., etc., as that reporter than shifted the interview to questions about homeschooling. She was intrigued and asked if she could interview me about that as well. Mind you, after the other I've lost count newspaper interviews and write-ups about our homeschooling family, I said I would not do that again because every previous article misquoted my supposed quotes. bang head on wall
All that to say... do you see that posting schedule on my left sidebar? It will continue to be hit or miss. Plus I was wanting to post pictures of our Christ-Life Tree ornaments... God-willing.
None of this compares to my husband's schedule. He's not just knee deep in them gators, he's swimming amongst them. So if you think about it, please consider praying for him.
No matter what comes your way, I pray you all have a BLESSED DAY RESTING IN OUR FAITHFUL LORD! (remember... he even knows the number of hairs on our heads, including the grey ones, and really is acquainted with ALL of our ways.)
And yes, when I went to get my hair cut the other day, turning 40 is around the corner, she did mention that I do have some grey coming in. (another nervous grin)
:-)
