This is Embarrassing
Here is a video to promote the Rick Warren Purpose Driven Life 2006 conference that made me think "they just don't get it." Especially when they promote "Honda". He also says if anyone has a problem with what he says, take it up with his boss, "Rick Warren" (is this the R.I.C.K. Warren humility plan in action?). He also taunts satan as he says, "Satan try to stop me, you gotta be kiddin' me." Then he says "Make the booty drop like the walls of Jericho" as he turns around and shakes his in front of the camera.
WHY?????
This both breaks my heart and makes me sick to my stomache.
What is the purpose?
Who is getting the glory in this?

My Husband, My brother in Christ

You offer a different perspective on this that I appreciate. When I first saw the video, I found it humorous b/c it was obviously done in a parody manner (to me). But maybe to others, it's not seen in that way, which could be a bad thing... It could fuel the flames of those who think that Christian rap is of the devil.

Hey Jenn,
I am not one of those who thinks that Christian rap is of the devil. I have a hard time with people who sing any type of song under the label of Christianity and it lack reverence for our Holy Lord. This is one of those videos that certainly gives that appearance. It may not have been his intent, but it does go over the edge and appear more like the world and flesh appealing than God honoring.
THank you for your comment.
Have a truly blessed day in the Lord.

Hi Lisa,
I ran acorss your blog looking for blogs by Reformed thinkers, specially women. It was encouraging to find your blog.
Regarding this video. I couldn't watch more than 1.5 minutes as it began to make me sick as well. I completely agree with your response to Jenn. While I don't support the notion that music genres that sound different from the way we sing in church are devil's music, I do believe that some music (such as rap, hard rock and reggaeton) should be strictly the world's music and has no place in worship. More so because of what the world's versions of these types of music encourage, which is drugs, promiscuity and sensual dancing. This DOES NOT glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in anyway.
Our Lord is beautiful and the music we sing to Him should be as well. The song in this video is not beautiful. In fact it's kinda "wack."
I do wonder if posting it on this blog did not serve to promote it as perhaps more people will see it that might not have otherwise.
In any case, I look forward to perusing through more of your posts.
Soli Deo Gloria.

Suheiry,
I struggled with the thought that posting it here would promote it. However, I ran it by my husband and he and I both felt that it was more exposing it than promoting it. That is a fine line and so I do understand your questioning this post.
Thank you for commenting and expressing your concern.
Sincerely,
Lisa
