Exacerbation, a Marble, and the Heimlich
Though I do believe the meds I am on are a significant help and are keeping me from going into a full-fledged MS exacerbation, I am beginning to have a few "symptoms" and could use your prayers. Also, please offer up a prayer of thankfulness. Jayson, one of my twin boys, almost died tonight. He swallowed a large marble and I had to shove my hand down his bleeding throat while he was turning purple as I simultaneuosly gave him the heimlich maneuver... all while one of my young daughters was watching. She's more traumatized than Jayson.

Oh my Lisa, I'm so grateful to God that he gave you the presence of mind to do what was necessary!! I'll definitely be praying for your daughter and the many opportunities you are bound to have to talk about this with her in the days to come. I know my heart would still be pounding from such an event--praying that His peace will be abundant to you and your family.

You certainly have my prayers; for your MS symptoms as well as for your children. It can't have been easy for YOU to deal with either.
Praying for you...

I keep having nightmares about the Jayson episode. It just keeps replaying in my head. I really thought I was going to lose that boy.
Thank you for your prayers.

When Austin was a week old, (he always gulped his milk) he became strangled on milk/flem, couldn't catch his breath, and finally stopped breathing altogether. I grabbed one of the bulb syringes that we'd brought home from the hospital, and started trying to clear the mucus out of his tiny throat while Mike called 9-1-1. (Fortunately, I had one designated "nose only" and one designated "mouth only." :-) By the time the EMT's arrived, he was breathing on his own, but he had begun to turn blue. They put a tiny oxygen mask on him for a while, then said they thought he'd be okay. (Later, around midnight, we met our pediatrician at the emergency room, just to be sure everything was fine, and he had me do something quite embarrassing, which I will tell you off-blog sometime, LOL). The EMT's commended me for thinking of the mucus bulb, and said that they should be "must-haves" in new parents' baby supplies. I remember how shaken I was AFTER it was all over, and Mike couldn't believe how calm I was during the episode. It still alarms me every time Austin coughs or gags, and he now has a very sensitive gag reflex. Ah....the joys of mommyhood.
I'm praying for you and your family today.

Wow, praise God that you were there, ready and able to rescue your son from what may have been a tragedy. I thank God for His wonderful Sovereignty.
And as I said in the other post, I will be praying for you, sis, for your strength and endurance, and for your continuous obedience to His Perfect Will.
Christ alone,
Jenn
