What do I want to be known for?
In the first of a series of GirlTalk discussions on the book about Elizabeth Prentiss, Nicole Whitacre encourages the readers to answer 2 questions that are inspired by the first chapter.
1. What godly legacy have you received from your parents?Even if you are not going through the book with these ladies, these are excellent questions to reflect on. GirlTalk opened up their comments for this post giving the ladies opportunities to share their answers to these questions. I encourage you to read them and be inspired to examine your heart and life in light of them. Keep in mind what you want to be known for in your life and after you die.2. What kind of legacy do you hope to leave to your children?
Personally my childhood was characterized by instability. (I borrowed those words from another young lady that commented at the GirlTalk discussion. They fit.)
I do not believe details are necessary so I will give a point-blank but heart-felt answer to the question What kind of legacy do you hope to leave to your children?
Actually in the ABOUT ME section of my blog I wrote I am but a Home Educator, a pilgrim on a journey... and along the way, God-willing, teaching my six children to follow in God's way. Which is by far the richest inheritance I can leave them.
I want to also add what I wrote to Carla even though she won't "share": My hope is to be known for erring on the side of mercy but yet uncompromising in HIS truth and HIS love for HIS glory.

My Husband, My brother in Christ

Interesting that there is a book discussion on Elizabeth Prentiss. We listen to a very good Christian radio station on our way to church (an hour drive) and they are reading through this very book. It sounded so interesting that I decided to get the book, but then forgot the title. So...now I know.

Hey Candy,
Good to hear from you. Maybe the radio station is doing this in conjunction with these Girl Talk gals???
It really is an excellent book. I know you'll enjoy it and it really is not too late to join in the online discussion with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started the book because of the girl talk. they read many puritan books too. it is the best station. all reformed teaching. reading a book half an hour a day on week days, and an hour on Sunday with a different book, and three or more sessions of teaching a day. years ago they got rid of the popular radio spots like james dobson and such, when the owner of the station became reformed.
so, my husband and i listen to the sunday book reading (Prentiss book) on our hour long drive to church. forgive the lower cap letters. i feel lazy today. :)
