Where do I Begin?
My boys are flying back from the Ligonier conference on Sunday. I am so ready for them to be home. They met up with Challies. I warned Challies that they are a bit shy but he said, "They were shy but I am a grown-up so was able to boss them around and get them to have their picture taken. :-) "
As soon as I get the pic, I will publish it on my blog.
Well I have not been blogging a whole lot lately. I am preparing a rather time consuming hugely requested post and I have some other posts that I have not published that are just not ready. In the mean time, I have been consumed with the home renovations and taking care of my 4 little ones along with my 2 older boy's 2 pups while they are in Florida as I try to live out, by the grace of God, what I proclaim to believe in spite of the immense stress.
Let's see... my 6 year old daughter decided that she was going to give the 2 pups a bath without permission for her 2 older brothers. This little adventure happened in my whirlpool bath. I was in a meeting with a contractor in our library thinking the girls were playing with the pups in my room. :-/
Two neighbor girls came over to ask if my girls could come over and play in their backyard.
"Of course!" I said. "They are in my room with the puppies."
A few seconds later one of the neighbor girls comes out a bit panicked asking me if she should turn the water off.
"What water." I asked.
"Ummm.... the girls are giving the puppies a bath." she responded and then bit her lip with, you know, one of those knowing "WOW, they are in trouble" expressions.
I excused myself and rushed to rescue the pups.
It amazes me that dogs do not have to be taught to swim.
One of the pups freaked out and pooped in the water.
The pups are fine now. *heavy sigh*
The girls... well, need I go on?
(Another one of those "laugh lest I cry" moments?)
The day before my boys were to leave for Florida, one of the contractors employees got fired for being mouthy and disrespectful. He went to his vehicle loudly vocalizing all sorts of profanities and screeched and sped out of the neighborhood. A quiet neighborhood that has lots of children. *heavy sigh*
This is someone we have been praying for and I told his boss that we will not stop praying for this young man.
The next day the young man apologized in tears to his boss. His boss, who happens to also be his brother-in-law, came to me and asked my opinion saying "Your prayers must be working. In all the years I have known him he has been testing me and testing me. He has always been very prideful and has NEVER apologized. I have given him chance after chance. I really thought this was it. Your family... you guys have made a big impact on him"
His boss is the Jehovah Witness that we have been witnessing to. The first thing that popped into my head was MERCY which is what I told him. "Be merciful. Forgive him and let's work with him. But there needs to be a leash." He knew what I meant.
Consequences are inevitable and necessary even when mercy and forgiveness is genuinely extended. The leash is not only for his good but the professional reputation of this contractor is at stake as well. The leash is training this young man. Showing him by example and through admonishment and encouragement what it is to be a professional and to not take for granted that he works for his brother-in-law.
I ask your continued prayers. Please.
Not only for my family, but for those who come to our home. This time is stressful and praise God that HE has sustained our family. We have heard testimony after testimony of what the workers are saying about our family.
It is Christ they see and to HIM BE ALL THE GLORY!

My Husband, My brother in Christ

Maybe your girls could wash his mouth out with soap and then put him on the puppy's leash? ;-)
Just teasing. Keep up the great witness, Lisa. I know it is not easy right now, but you ARE having an impact on these folks. To God be the glory!!
