Spontaneous Combustion
I walked my two Bishon Frise pups this beautiful morning. Besides picking up what seemed like a boat load of doggy poo, I got to talk with one of my favorite neighbors. They are an older couple that deeply love each other... they have been through so much and just grow closer and closer as the years go by. I love talking to them.
Anyway, I just found out that a creeping pine spontaneously combusted causing lots of smoke, smoldering ground cover, and flames probably 10 feet high. The wife was inside ironing. The husband ran a quick errand. Both had no idea. One of the neighbors saw it from her back yard and ran over to help. This happened yesterday at 2:00... one of the HOTTEST points of the day. And boy has it been hot here in NW Arkansas... sweltering hot.
Even though this flaming bush was within 2 or 3 feet of the house, thankfully nothing but the bush and a little ground cover was burned to a crisp. A few surrounding bushes were also scorched. The couple is counting their many blessings as we all are alongside them. The husband looks at the positive aspect of it all in more than just the fact that his wife and home were spared. He said now he can fix this one down spout without worrying about killing that crispy bush. They are such a blessing to this entire neighborhood. A neighborhood that is like one big extended family with only 35 homes, consisting of a circle and one cul-de-sac.
So how could this have happened?
The only thing that makes sense is the possibility of spilt chemicals from getting their back patio's cement pad finished off and sealed. But then HERE is a CNN news video that shows security camera footage of a playground spontaneously combusting without any apparent "help".
Thank you Lord... not only for this couple, but for keeping them safe. Thank you for the neighbor that saw the fire and immediately took action. Thank you for this neighborhood and the many opportunities that You provide to shine Your light.
