You Be the Judge
Which approach is more loving?
Found this at Pyro.
My thoughts on these videos is that there is a balance. There is a time for street evangelism, there is a time to be to the point, there is a time to be a listener and develop a relationship. To me it all goes together. You can show that God is a loving God alongside communicating the righteous judgement of God. I like the guy on the video. He has excellent points. However, I do think he is showing the other sides extreme. I have also witnessed street evangelists that were not very nice. Actually they really were very embarrassing because they were screaming and shoving truth down peoples throats.
I liken the difference to a story I heard one day about a young man that went to this church for a long time and was rather annoyed by the preacher always telling them that they were going to hell if they did not repent. He was thrilled when that preacher was replaced by another. Someone asked him what the difference was between the preachers that made him like this new one so much better. The guy responded, "This new one still preaches that if we do not repent we will go to hell. But he says it in such a way that it seems to truly break his heart. The preacher that left would say it in such a way that he seemed glad that we would burn in hell."
That's my 2 cents... and it is probably worth less than that.
