"Getting Religion"
I once visited a man in jail who had wrecked his life with drugs and had stolen money from work. He talked a lot about Jesus and the Bible. The above is merely an excerpt of an excellent article that I encourage you to read. You can find the rest of it HERE.
On my way out, one of the guards said to me sarcastically, “Everybody in here believes in Jesus, especially around parole time.”The two criminals crucified on either side of Jesus had no hope of a lighter sentence. They were goners. Crucifixion ended in only one way – you died. “Getting religion” wouldn’t get you out of that. Initially both robbers were spewing out hatred toward Jesus along with the mocking crowd (Mt. 27:44). But something suddenly happened to one of them.

Thanks for the article. We actually watch a video based upon the book of Luke of Jesus' life with the children yesterday. I get teary eyed every time when they crucified my savior and the part that truly inspires me is when the sinner to his left turned to Jesus and said
"Remember me when you come into your kingdom" and Jesus answered him "Today, you will be with ME in Paradise." Awesome words and yet even as he was dying he FORGIVES those who put him there! I am constantly teaching this part about forgiveness to my children so that since Jesus didn't condemn then we shouldn't either.
