Please Pray For This Family
Our Pastor, Chris Taylor, sent my husband, me and our church a request to pray for this pastor and his son and all those involved at the point of only knowing that they were missing. Preston, the 13 year-old son of Pastor Forrest Pollock, is right between the ages of my two oldest sons. My husband, Jon, used to fly Cessna's recreationally and thankfully survived two crashes. One with his father, and one by himself. I really hoped they had survived...
Our Senior Pastor Forrest Pollock and his 13 year-old son Preston went missing while traveling in the Pastor's plane from North Carolina early Monday morning. (Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, FL)5/13/08 12:30 PM Posting
We regret to inform you, our church family, that at approximately 11 AM this morning we learned that search and rescue teams found the aircraft of Pastor Forrest Pollock in the mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Pastor Pollock, 44 and his son Preston, 13, did not survive the crash. Please continue to lift up Dawn and the children during this difficult time. We grieve with hope and assurance that our Lord Jesus will lead us and carry us through these difficult times. We have lost a great brother, pastor and friend in Forrest Pollock as well as a precious little brother in Christ, Preston Pollock. We owe a great thanks to those who risked their lives, endured extreme hardship, and worked non-stop in the attempt to rescue our pastor and his son.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Bell Shoals is a large church here where I live. In fact, the church I am a member of is a "church plant" and our pastor served under Rev. Pollack before becoming our senior pastor.
This has affected many, many in our community.
It is really sad. But I must say how amazed I am at the outpouring of love and support from everyone around. Not only to drive around and see other churches posting words of encouragement on their signs but how much people in the "blogging" world have shown support.
I did not know the family but I know many who did. Your comment is right on, continuing for His love and His glory!
Thank you for posting this.

Dana,
Thank you for taking the time to share here. This story really has touched so many lives.

Bell Shoals was our home church for 7 years when we lived in Brandon, FL. We moved away right before Pastor Pollock came there, and our hearts are so heavy for his family and the church family there. The people at Bell Shoals hold such a special place in our hearts, and I'm praying for them that our Lord Jesus will wrap them all in His mercy and peace, and I'm especially praying for the Pollock family. What a hard thing.

Rebekah,
I was talking to a friend about how we do not realize who is impacted by what occurs around us, whether it be a tragedy like this, a sin we justify because we think no one will know or get hurt, a victory over a trial. These things touch people from all areas, all walks of life to an extent we cannot imagine. But God uses these things to magnify His glory; to cause people to stop and think, to change their life, their perspective or to bring praise and prayer to our Lord... even if we have never met the people involved.
This story has impacted my life. No, not to the extent it has to those that know this family. Not near the impact it has had on the surviving members of this family. But, it has caused me to stop and think and pray and to continue to press on in HIS truth and HIS love for HIS glory.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Rebekah. It means a lot to me for you to share this and the other things you have brought to life as well.
Press on dear sister. Read Psalm 104 today and bring praises to our Almighty Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth, for the Truth that His ways are perfect.
