The Movie: Prince Caspian's Apparently Open-Theistic Aslan
My 14 year old son had a hard time articulating why he was so disappointed with the Prince Caspian movie when he saw it on Friday with his brother and classmates. He has read all of the books, it seems, twice over. Besides the fact that we have listened to the audios and read some of the books to them as well, you can pretty much conclude that they are saturated in Narnia... mostly our oldest.
Before the movie came out, he read Prince Caspian again. Perhaps if he would not have done that, he may have enjoyed the movie more... or maybe not. It was hard for him not to compare the movie to the book, which apparently brings big disappointment. I have not seen it yet, but Josh mentioned that so much of the story is lost and the movie would have had to be over 5 hours long to capture the depth of the book. Isn't that usually the case? Especially with well-read classics, Hollywood just doesn't quite grasp how to maintain the true content, even if they can create some fantastic, jaw-dropping visual effects.
Challies has linked to a review that Josh would likely agree with from Amy Hall at Stand to Reason Blog.

For the record, Tessa had the same impression of the movie, as did Bob. Disappointing...
