The Rebelution Conference in Dallas
My husband and I got tickets to the Dallas Rebelution conference at the end of this month for us and our two teen boys. Six days before the conference, the VIVIT band will be performing at a mayoral candidate picnic where they will be talking about the conference and passing out "Do Hard Things" brochures. The entire band will be attending the conference with their parents.
They will be performing with a new lead vocalist that is 15 years old, named Lauren. She will also perform one of the songs with an acoustic guitar as she sings. Caleb is still the drummer. He is also the back-up vocalist on "Long Live the King." My son, Brandon, will be playing the bass guitar on most of the songs and the djembe on the last song. My oldest son, Joshua, will play the electric guitar and on the last song, he will play the acoustic. They have been practicing diligently 5 days a week. One of those days they practice with Neil Greenhaw. It has been a blast having them in our home, witnessing them grow, both in the talent the Lord has given them and spiritually. Before they begin practice, they think of at least one thing they are thankful for and then they end practice in prayer. They have also each chosen to present to the band during practice, one of the songs they are performing: it's history, meaning, why it was written. It has made each song so much more meaningful.
It has been an honor and joy to be among these young adults ranging in age from 13 to 15. They are a lot of fun!!! ...and they know how to make me laugh so hard I can't breathe!
At the performance:
They will be introduced and one of them will say I Timothy 4:12
1. Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone (Tomlin)
2. Holy is the Lord (Tomlin)
3. Meant to Live (Switchfoot) before this song, they will talk about The Rebelution
4. All Bow Down (Tomlin)
5. Long Live the King (Aaron Shust) after this song they will give a testimonial as to why the next song is important to them
6. Slow Fade (Casting Crowns) my 7 year old daughter will sing the last part

My Husband, My brother in Christ

Excellent... I really hope you guys make it!!! You have my cell number right? If not, let me know. There may possibly be others going from our church. Is there anyone else thinking about going from GBC? We sure miss you guys! Hey, BTW, Jon's sister is moving here. She got a job as an internal med/ hospitalist doc at the same hospital my husband practices at. We are SO excited!
Now if we could just get the entire GBC to move here and merge with LBC :-D
My two teen boys and Lauren, the vocalist in their band, will be playing together during the offertory this Sunday at our church: "Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone" by Tomlin.

Sounds like fun! I didn't know you guys read the Rebelution blog! I got on about three years ago, then stopped, and started up again in February. I must say I would really like to go to one of their conferences, but I haven't been able to. There aren't that many near here, and I'm pretty busy right now. Anyway, I wanted to know if you've read the book yet? And if so (you probably have), how did you like it?

Yes, I've read the book.
I really liked it. I mean it really changed the way I thought about a lot of stuff. And, after I read it I prayed and I think God worked through that to convict me to get baptized.

Great! Hey I heard that you guys were going to do "Dare you to move"! It's pretty simple and fun to play, but you should memorize the tab for it, if you know how to read tab music.

Hey, we should get together sometime! I'll call you up after I talk to my mom and see if we can do it anytime soon!

Why don't you come with us to the Rebelution conference?
It would be fun to have you over when we practice. Our lesson with Mr. Greenhaw is every Monday at 3:45 and we will be practicing Tuesday thru Friday everyday this week at 2:00. We are also going to have people over this Saturday at 5:00 for dinner and at 6pm we will play what we are playing at the mayoral candidates picnic. Can you come?
