Happy 40th Birthday
...my husband is 40 years old today. *gulp* That means in 5 months, I turn 40. For that reason, I have decided not to torture my husband by having a birthday party for him. Trust me, being the center of attention at a birthday party celebrating his 40th birthday would be on his list of top 5 worst nightmares. Being the center of attention at anything is a nightmare for him period. I learned that the hard way in our first year of marriage. I had a gathering of friends celebrate his birthday at a Mexican restaurant where they made him wear a sombrero as they serenaded him. *big gulp*
Note to self: DON'T EVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!
So, we will have a nice, quiet family birthday celebration as we treat him to back and foot rubs and his favorite meal. He is post-call and is not supposed to have gone in to the hospital today, but they got swamped, so he will be there until noon. When he gets back, we'll ...ummmmmm.... definitely not make him wear a sombrero. :-/
Oh yes... it was 4 years ago on Jon's birthday that I brought the twins home from Dallas to babysit them for a week. They never left and we adopted them 6 months later. Precious, unexpected gifts from God.
Yes, my husband is a very gracious man. Indeed, God knew that I needed a man who would be longsuffering.

My Husband, My brother in Christ

tell your husband that 40 is better than 41

Yes! You are OLDER than me. I can give you a really hard time about that! *snicker*

Happy 40th, Jon! Didn't know that you are younger than me and you have more gray hair! Although my mother-in-law always manages to point out how much more of my gray hair are coming in every time I see her! I do respond back in kindness and say that my mother has the most BEAUTIFUL gray hair...it's actually all white now but STILL very beautiful hair!

Hey, my hubby and I are six months apart too!! And you are a very wise woman to NOT harrass your husband since 'your day' is soon approaching!!
My John is a 'no sombrero' sort of guy, too!
BTW, congrats on the family/adoption anniversary--I thought it had been longer than four years!! :-)

Rachael, our youngest, cried because she felt her daddy needed a BIG birthday party. Hard to explain to her that at our age, birthday parties that center around us are torture. :-/
