Consider this...
My pastor took a break from his expositional preaching in Hebrews to expositionally preach in Psalm 146 to present what it means to "Praise the Lord."
The word "hallel" means praise and "jah" means Yahweh or Jehovah and is often translated "Praise the Lord." When I do sign language for the word hallelujah it is not complete unless I sign the "jah" ending to point to who I am praising.
THere were several things my pastor pointed out that really struck me... but one I especially want to share with you in light of this Thanksgiving season. When I am overwhelmed by life and think I have nothing to be thankful for, consider who God is. Just within this Psalm think about the actions of God. God made, He keeps, He executes, gives, sets, opens, raises, loves, protects, supports and thwarts. Think about these things and KNOW without a doubt that God IS faithful and those in Him, no matter what your circumstances, have MUCH to be thankful for.
By the way... my pastor took a l-o-n-g break from blogging, but he is back. Go check his post out HERE.
